About Clutch Deals

Australia's sharpest deals community — built to surface genuine bargains, verified by AI, backed by a real price history.

Why Clutch Deals exists

Shopping online in Australia is loud. Retailers run sales every week, “half price” banners adorn products that were full price two weeks ago, and the good deals get buried beneath inflated claims. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has repeatedly warned that “was” prices on Australian retailer sites are often misleading — and as customers we're left to sort it out on our own.

We built Clutch Deals because we wanted a single place where the discount you see is the discount you're actually getting. Every deal that lands in our feed is checked against historical price data, scored by an AI model, and open to community voting. If a retailer has quietly bumped the “was” price from $49.95 to $89.95 to make a 20% sale look like 60% off, we'll call it.

How we source deals

Community submissions

Real people post the deals they've found. No bots, no affiliate pushing — just members who want to share a good find.

Retailer APIs and feeds

We pull directly from 30+ Australian retailers — supermarkets, electronics stores, department stores, liquor, pets, baby and beyond — the moment a special goes live.

Community signal aggregation

We watch OzBargain, Cheapies, and other deal communities in real time. If a deal is trending, you'll see it here within minutes.

How the AI score works

Every deal gets a Clutch Score from 0 to 10 before it ever reaches the feed. The score blends several signals: the size of the discount, how that price compares to our own historical tracking, whether the retailer has a pattern of inflating “was” prices, how the deal is trending on other communities, and whether the product is actually in stock.

A score of 8 or higher is an Excellent deal — a genuine low relative to history. 5 to 7 is a Good deal — worth a look. Below 5 is “meh” territory — you might pick it up if you need it, but nothing special. The score updates as new data comes in, so a deal can be upgraded or downgraded even after it's live.

Our differentiator: price history

We maintain our own price history database for major retailers like Woolworths, Coles, JB Hi-Fi, and Bunnings. When a retailer claims a product was “$99.99, now $49.99 (50% off)”, we check our records. If that same product was actually $55 last month, we'll show the real price history alongside the deal so you can make an informed decision.

This is the main thing that sets us apart from every other deals site. Other communities rely on retailer-claimed RRPs — we don't. Our price data is independent, built from hundreds of thousands of data points collected every week.

Transparency and trust

Affiliate disclosure: Some outbound links are affiliate links. This means we may earn a small commission if you make a purchase, at no extra cost to you. It never affects which deals appear or how they're scored. See our full disclosure.

No paid placement: We do not accept payment to rank deals higher. Sponsored placements (when we add them) will always be clearly labelled.

Australian owned and operated: Clutch Deals is built in Australia, for Australian shoppers. Prices, shipping, and availability are always AU-first.
